HARMONY CENTRAL, 2000
Golden Axe Awards (Citron AE5)
In French, “Citron” means “Lemon”. In Bass language however, “Citron” means one slick instrument.
This acoustic-electric five-string is the work of Harvey Citron and nice work it is. If you’re a fan of acoustic basses, you simply must check one of these out. And, if you’re not a fan of acoustic basses, you simply must check one of these out. This is because the instrument has a wide range of sonic possibilities coming from its two Citron Humbucking pickups and its EMG piezo pickups with a whole bunch of electronic goodies thrown in for good measure.
I really like the way this instrument played, smooth, fast, and accurate. The color was a rich butterscotch burst that was very relaxing. The body is mahogany with a bolt-on maple neck. With a price tag of $4,000 U.S. I think this instrument is well worth the price.
